Certifications

All of Sunbound Lighting’s products are certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in accordance with National UL Standards and the National Electrical Codebook (NEC). We take pride in providing high quality products that meet the rigorous testing procedures.

Panel Lights

Sunbound’s PaneLite Custom Panel Light System meets UL Standards and conforms to all codes under the NEC. We are proud to work with our partner in Korea, AL Lighting, to provide completely custom panel lighting for our clients. Our UL Certificate can be viewed below.

Linear Lights

Sunbound’s LumiLite Custom Linear Light System is UL recognized, as all electrical components meet UL standards and have been tested by a NRTL as components of a larger system. Our LED modules, installation wire and LED driver have all been tested by an NRTL. Each certification information can be found in the documents below.

What is the difference between UL Listed and UL Recognized?

Products with UL Listing correspond to a final product (end product) or a component for installations in the field. These products have been tested accordingly and can be installed, taking the applicable local installation guidelines into account, e.g. ANSI/NFPA 70, “National Electrical Code” (NEC).

UL Recognized is defined as “testing and evaluation of component products that are incomplete or restricted in performance capabilities.” UL Recognized products will be later used in complete end-products and systems, and may require additional installation precautions such as cable trays or housing devices to protect the product from chemicals or liquids. Below is an excerpt from the NEC, Article 411 regarding Lighting Systems operating under 30 Volts.

ARTICLE 411: Lighting Systems Operating at 30 Volts or Less and Lighting Equipment Connected to Class-2 Power Sources.

  • 411.1 Scope
    • This article covers lighting systems operating at 30 volts or less and their associated components. This article also covers lighting equipment connected to a Class 2 power source.
  • 411.4 Listing Required
    • Lighting systems operating at 30 volts or less shall comply with 411.4(A) or 411.4(B). Class 2 power sources and lighting equipment connected to Class 2 power sources shall be listed.
      • (A) Listed System. Lighting systems operating at 30 volts or less shall be listed as a complete system. The luminaires, power supply, and luminaire fittings (including the exposed bare conductors) of an exposed bare conductor lighting system shall be listed for the use as part of the same identified lighting system.
      • (B) Assembly of Listed Parts. A lighting system assembled from the following listed parts shall be permitted:
        • (1) Low-voltage luminaires.
        • (2) Low-voltage luminaire power supply.
        • (3) Low-voltage luminaire fittings.
        • (4) Cord (secondary circuit) for which the luminaires and power supply are listed for use.
        • (5) Cable, conductors in conduit, or other fixed wiring method for the secondary circuit

The luminaires, power supply, and luminaire fittings (including the exposed bare conductors) of an exposed bare conductor lighting system shall be listed for use as part of the same identified lighting system
